Mentoring
Share trading accounts with a mentor or review student data as a mentor — with granular permission controls and built-in feedback.
Mentoring
The mentoring page at /mentoring lets you share your trading accounts with a mentor for review, or view shared data from students as a mentor. The same user can act as both mentor and student in different relationships.

Page Layout
The page is split into two areas:
- Sidebar (left) — role switcher, search, relationship list, pending invitations, and invite button
- Main panel (right) — either an empty state or the detail view for the selected relationship
At the top of the sidebar, a role switcher toggles between As Mentor and As Student. The relationship list below updates to match.
Inviting
There are two ways to start a mentoring relationship.
Student Invites Mentor
- Switch to As Student in the sidebar
- Click the Invite button
- Enter the mentor's email address
- Select which accounts to share
- Configure permissions for each account
- Send the invitation
The mentor receives an email with a link. When they accept, the relationship becomes active immediately with the permissions you configured.
Mentor Invites Student
- Switch to As Mentor in the sidebar
- Click the Invite button
- Enter the student's email address
- Send the invitation
The student receives an email with a link. When they accept, they choose which accounts to share and set permissions before the relationship is finalized.
Pending Invitations
Pending invitations appear in the sidebar with status indicators:
- Outgoing — shows a Cancel button to withdraw
- Incoming — shows Accept and Decline buttons
Once declined, an invitation cannot be reactivated. A new invitation must be sent.
Permissions
The student controls exactly what the mentor can see. Trades are always visible (read-only). Everything else is opt-in.
| Permission | What it shares |
|---|---|
| Daily | Daily journal entries |
| Weekly | Weekly journal entries |
| Sessions | Trading session recaps |
| Trade Notes | Notes attached to individual trades |
| Dashboards | Specific dashboards (multi-select picker) |
| Pages | Specific journal pages (multi-select picker) |
| Feedback | Enables the mentor to send feedback messages |
Each permission can be toggled on or off independently. Dashboard and page permissions use multi-select pickers so you can share only the ones relevant to your mentoring. Accounts can be added or removed from the relationship at any time.
Mentor View
When viewing as mentor, the sidebar lists your students grouped by name. Each student shows their shared accounts with summary stats:
- Trade count
- Win rate
- P&L
- Last trade date
Widget Dashboard
Selecting a student account opens a customizable widget dashboard in the main panel. This uses the same widget system as the main Dashboard — you can drag, resize, and configure widgets to build the view you need for each student.
Toolbar buttons:
- Edit Widgets — enter edit mode to rearrange and add widgets
- Open in New Tab — view the student dashboard in a full browser tab
- Feedback — expand the feedback panel
Feedback Panel
A collapsible panel on the right side of the main area for sending feedback to the selected student. See Feedback below.
Student View
When viewing as student, the sidebar lists your mentors. Selecting a mentor opens a detail view with two sections:
Permissions
A collapsible section showing all permission toggles, account management, and dashboard/page selectors. Changes take effect immediately — the mentor's view updates in real time.
Feedback Thread
The conversation thread with the selected mentor appears below the permissions section. See Feedback below.
Revoking Access
A Revoke button at the bottom of the student view ends the relationship. A confirmation dialog explains that this is permanent and all shared account data will be removed.
Feedback

The feedback system provides threaded messaging between mentor and student within each relationship.
Message Types
- Text — standard messages
- Images — upload screenshots, charts, or annotated visuals
- Trade references — link to specific trades in the shared account
- Journal references — link to specific journal entries
Account Filter
When a relationship includes multiple accounts, a dropdown at the top of the feedback thread lets you filter messages by account.
Message Actions
Hover over a message to reveal action buttons:
- Edit — modify the message text
- Delete — remove the message (confirmation required)
- Copy — copy the message text to clipboard
Read Receipts
Messages show delivery indicators: sent and read. These update in real time.
Replies
The mentor controls whether the student can reply via the Allow Student Replies toggle. When replies are disabled, the student sees a hint explaining that their mentor has turned off replies for this relationship.
Pagination
Older messages load on demand via a Load earlier messages button at the top of the thread.
Ending a Relationship
Either party can end a mentoring relationship:
| Role | Action | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Student | Click Revoke (confirmation required) | Permissions section |
| Mentor | Click Cancel on pending invitations | Sidebar invitation card |
When a relationship is ended, its status changes to revoked and all shared account data is removed. The feedback history is no longer accessible to either party.
